School Art Competition 2024

​The Grootfontein Show is excited to announce our annual school art competition, inviting school children to participate. This year's theme is recycling, with specific projects assigned to each grade. To enter, simply participate through your school and get a chance to win cash prizes. Download more information here.

3rd Grade – Egg Carton Insects
4th Grade – Plastic Bottle Wind Chimes
5th Grade – Paper and Carton Wall Art
6th Grade – Bottle Cap Portraits
7th Grade – Magazine Collage Art
8th Grade – Cardboard Sculpture
9th Grade – Plastic Cutlery Sculpture
10th Grade – Can Sculpture
11th Grade – Bottle cap Sculpture
12th Grade – Paper Machete Sculpture

Rules for entering

Each school is responsible for handing out the show society's art projects. Each school must select the 5 best projects from each grade. The school must submit the chosen projects at the Grootfontein Showground on September 11th.

Rules:

1. Only one piece per child is allowed.

2. Portraits should not exceed A2 size (42cm x 59.4cm). 3. Sculptures should not exceed 30cm in height, length, and width.

4. Wind chimes should not be longer than 90cm.

 

Judging

A panel of five judges will select a third, second, and first place in each division based on the following criteria: - Visual impact - Design concept - Construction technique - Creativity - Use of recyclable materials.
